with a twist
a spunky attitude
and a curled up fist
she doesn’t give up
even in a fight
cause she’ll only give
the bully a fright
she usually stands up
for herself
and doesn’t really need
any help
she can sometimes be your
girl next door
or as crazy as a big wild
boar
you can depend on her
during crisis
cause she’s the type
of gal you can’t miss
she can be as smart
as a duke
but can surely pick a fight
with captain hook
make sure you dont underestimate
her sweetness
or you’ll wind up
in a real hot mess
she’s the type of girl
you’ll fall in love with
and i can tell you,
she ain’t no myth
she’ll really love you
for who you are
and doesn’t really care
if you’re a star
and if someday she’ll
look your way
you’ll know she’s here
to stay
she’s miss SMARTASS
as some may say
but she’s only looking for someone
to brighten up her day
and in the end, she’s the real
DAMSEL IN DISTRESS
——————————–
Written four years ago, so I’m guessing I was fourteen. I’m rummaging through my trunk of old files, and this is by far the funniest poem I wrote. I love how it describes the spunky teen I was, before I found out that violence is never the answer. Sometimes. >:)
It's fun to go back and look at some of our old work, isn't it? I really like it! Thanks for sharing it.
Even at 14 your path was clearly to become a writer. Very nice poem.
This is a nice write-up of a girl who's tough, independent and able to take care of herself, but still has that tender, giving side too. Very nice. 🙂
That is great for a 14 year old, glad you grew to learn that violence is not the answer for everything. It is nice that you have always had a passion for writing and you are following that passion.
I'm loving the first paragraph (and all the rest)- you really are such a talented writer!
Spunky indeed! It would appear that you've always had the talent! Well done!
From the photo there is no way that's a damsel in distress. I'd be scared to death of her! 😉
Love reading your writing. Even as a teen you were a great writer.
Its always an adventure to look back and see the person you once were through art or writing. Glad you found and posted this. It is a lot of fun.
What a great message to relay. You sure were a spunky teen!
I love this and how it twist and turns at the end. Brilliant!!
Great poem. I love it, reminds me of myself
Wow, this is great, especially for a 14-year-old! Always fun to look back on things we did before 🙂
That's neat that you have all those old poems to go back through. It's also neat that it correlates with how you were feeling at that time in your life.
I can almost hear this as a song. Have you done any songwriting? Great poetry creation
This is very good for something written when you were fourteen! Wow!
Fun. I wish I could find my old poetry. It wasn't as good as yours so maybe it's a good thing that it's missing.
You were definitely very spunky! I love how positive this poem is.
This is such a cute poem that is totally my old 16 year old self too! I love looking back at old high school work!
Its amazing to look back on such things 🙂 what a lovely poem. x
Thanks for sharing! You really have a way with words!
I think every woman should succumb once in a while to being the damsel in distress because everyone needs to lean on someone else at some point in their lives.
Love it! You are very talented 🙂
Awe, very nice poem! I like that she stands up<br />for herself!
Wow, at fourteen you were an amazing writer! I bet you found a lot of treasures in that trunk.
The photo is super cool haha and I like the poem you made too.
That's a great poem. I could never write poetry at all, even when I wanted to and tried.
Even at 14 you were already an amazing writer. I love the poem! Keep up the good work!
Your writing is always a great read. This character reminds me of myself. Thanks for sharing!
She sounds like the kind of girl you want on your side! Spunky, wild, but has a heart of gold. Great poem!
Only 14? You are very talented indeed. I used to write when I was in my teen too but nothing compare to this beautiful piece!! Love it!!
I am so afraid to dig through my old trunk of writing. I was a rather depressed teenager, so I can only imagine what I wrote! Love the poem, she sounds like a great character!
I like strong young females. they grow up to be strong women. I like the way you described her. As usual great writing.
Love this poem is so cute. I really like the message that it sends. You were very talented at 14. Not many kids I know could have written this well.
This is very creative and emotional. I wrote a lot of poetry when I was younger too. I kept it all in a notebook but that disappeared one day. I must have lost it somewhere.
